My journalism professors would probably take back my diploma if they saw my current writing style. But they’ve probably already fled the internet in horror, bemoaning what it’s done to grammar and professional business writing. But the formal style I learned in school wouldn’t get more than a handful of readers today, simply because our perception of what good writing looks has taken a decided turn to the casual. The problem is that too many people equate casual with sloppy.
